The one-story, 14,500-square-foot Girl Scout service center and headquarters is nestled in the wooded hillside on the outskirts of Philadelphia. The dormers that line the roof and neutral coloring of the building provide a camp-like feel, while the cementitious composite siding offers protection and durability. Inside, large windows provide natural lighting and a beautiful view of the greenery outdoors. The facility is used for volunteer training, meeting space, and offices for administrative staff. The service center also includes a 1,225-square-foot Girl Scout equipment and gift store and a volunteer resource center. The GSSP serves a diverse network of 4,500 adult volunteers who deliver the Girl Scout program to more than 18,000 girls in troops and camp programs in three counties.
