Bosch's new facility consists of a two-story 66,000-square-foot corporate office building connected to a 146,000-square-foot manufacturing/distribution center via a glass corridor. Greenfield Architects was challenged to design a building that promotes communication and teamwork and reinforces Bosch's high-tech image. The building structure comprises a steel frame with a masonry and glass exterior envelope. The support system for the masonry includes steel studs, which are insulated to provide an effective thermal envelope. The building is further accentuated with a heavy architectural precast concrete base to anchor the building solidly to the ground.
